What happens during a CQC HR audit—and what do you receive afterwards?

You may feel confident that your recruitment and staff management processes are sound. An independent review helps you examine the evidence behind that confidence.

At The HFactor HR Consultancy, we can agree a CQC HR audit scope that reflects your service, workforce and concerns.

Agreeing what to review

The starting point is a discussion about your organisation. You may want a broad review of your HR arrangements, help with known gaps or a focused examination of employee files.

Agreeing the scope helps everyone understand which areas will be examined and what the audit will deliver.

Examining records and everyday practice

Depending on the agreed scope, the review can cover recruitment procedures, relevant pre-employment checks, employee records, induction, training, supervision, appraisals and HR policies.

The questions are practical. Can records be located easily? Is information missing? Are processes followed consistently? Do managers understand their responsibilities?

Written procedures and everyday practice need to work together.

Understanding the findings

A useful audit explains what was reviewed, what evidence was available and where improvements are needed.

For example, if training records are incomplete, the next step is to establish whether training took place, obtain the evidence and improve the recording process. Missing paperwork and missing activity need different responses.

Turning findings into action

The HFactor can provide clear findings and a prioritised improvement plan as part of the agreed service.

An action plan should identify the issue, the next step, who will take responsibility and a realistic completion date. Follow-up support can also be discussed where you need help making the improvements.

Independent support for your organisation

An independent CQC HR audit supports preparation and improvement. It is separate from an official CQC inspection and does not determine your rating.
